Well, here I go ... My first blog post. I'm looking forward to using this as an additional space to share music events, announcements, favorite articles, websites, and resources with all of you. I'm hoping this blog will be helpful for all students AND life-long-learning family members as well. A few years ago, I started using Facebook as a platform to catalog and share our music events: www.facebook.com/groups/581111408920404. I think it'll be really helpful to use FB AND a blog together! With that said, let's start with a review of 2020-2021 .... This year was certainly an adventure. "2020-2021" alone is a mouth-full. The keywords and phrases of the year might be "unprecedented," "social distancing," "rona," "Zoom fatigue," "lockdown," "reopen," "cancel culture," "Black Lives Matter," "flatten the curve," "masks," "virtual, " "hybrid," etc, etc, etc. There were plenty of actions and events that could give the 2020-2021 academic year "worst-year-ever" award. While there were certainly MANY challenges ... we made it, one step at a time, one day at a time, and I think I'm going to CHOOSE to focus on the positive moments and the success stories of the year. Optimism is a choice, after all :) Below is a small collection of photos and videos from 2020-2021. I'm proud of our students. They persevered no matter the challenge. I thought many might want a break from rehearsals/events and some might welcome the restrictions from the pandemic as a legitimate excuse not to participate. The actual result was quite the opposite. Our students were LOOKING for opportunities to perform, to rehearse as a group. When I would ask about dates for events, the overwhelming answer was always, "YES, let's do it." Thank you for your dedication, everyone. YOU make the school year GREAT. 7th & 8th Grade Band: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1X1Tr3U2sK-NBbS3dYr99w03FNSp73aTW/view?usp=sharing HS Concert Band & Jazz Band: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_sOYCW8ao2-vlJwv0VEW7QTwunhI_svy/view?usp=sharing Comments are closed.
